On Wednesday the 11th of March 2026 the Mid Devon District Planning Committee considered Application No. 25/01498/MOUT which was outline planning permission for up to 130 dwelings on land off Silver Street, Willand. All of the relevant papers are on the Planning Portal and there will be an audio recording of the meeting which can be listened to on line. Only 30% will be ‘affordable houses’ and not all will be for rent. The other 70% will be for sale at market rates.
Willand Parish Council had submitted a very comprehensive response to the consultation and concluded by recommending refusal of the application. Our Chairman attended the meeting and was allowed to speak for 3 minutes. The committee approved the application without any debate.
There now has to be a Reserved Matters application made which will contain final details of the development. Residents will again have the opportunity to put forward submissions, whether for or against.
